AMERON LOFTS
Home of the Oriental Rollers and the Damascenes
I received my breeding stock, late in 09, three cocks and two hens. They had been sent to this country about three years earlier, to a breeder who had his loft flights in the shade of a tree. He then sold them to a breeder, who had a very large loft area, but only a sm. cage on the outside for the birds to get any sun. As I've said earlier, Damascenes MUST have full access and as much as they want of sunlight. Or their pigment suffers greatly and you will not have the dark plum colored eye ceres. So after three years of being w/o sunshine, these birds have VERY light pigmentation. When you see my late fall pictures of these same birds, you will see what I mean.
Some are about past breeding age, but I was delight to be able to purchase them at all !! It is my opinion, as I've said before. That the best Damascenes are found in Europe with the two best breeders (1 in Germany & the other in Holland) producing the top birds at the top shows.

After the fall molt, I will be showing more recent pictures of the birds blelow. Showing how much difference the sun can and does make in the color of the eye cere. They look so much different, now that they have had all summer of full sun they have wanted.
And of course last years babies, now look sooo much different, in their full mature feathering.
